Team Fortress 2 - Friendly Fire removed
Yup, that’s right. In the latest update, the server console variable ‘mp_friendlyfire’ which controls the friendlyfire on and off, have been removed! That means Team Fortress 2 is now permanently with friendlyfire off. Halleluja!
Personally, I hated friendlyfire in Team Fortress 2 due to several team-mates firing at one another, in attempts to discover a spy, ultimately killing each other. Also, you happen to accidently teamkill a lot. TF2 was never intended to be played with friendlyfire on either, according to this forum-post!
Before anyone jumps on and claims it was a bad move (elitist jerks), let me explain a thing to you : This is Team Fortress 2, not Team Fortress Classic, not Fortress Forever, not Quake World Team Fortress, and certainly not a baguette with paprica, cucumber, cheese and shrimps. If you so desperatly want to play Team Fortress the old way, why don’t you just go play it then and shut the fuck up, since TF2 was never intended to be a precise replica of the precursor TFC. Gameplay-changes and what not are Valves decisions and Valves alone. They are gamedesigners, you who bitch and moan at every fucking change in the world, is NOT!
Is it that hard to adapt? I know that every game has its fair share of people who want it to be like the old times, and it would be pretty boring if they would just release the same old game on a new engine, with the same maps and everything. EA Games havn’t learned from this, just look at their sportgames, prime examples at releasing the same old shit on a new engine.
